The construction rules behind every panel
Tube construction: every panel is the inside dimension plus one board caliper, so the box closes around your product instead of crushing it.
Dust flaps are capped at half the length minus 1.5mm so the opposing pair never collides.
Tucks are 1mm narrower than the inside length with friction shoulders at the hinge.
A 1/2 in trapezoidal glue tab sits on a rear corner so the seam stays off the front face.
Artwork tips for this style
- The tuck slit shows on the front face. Keep logos out of the top 6mm of the front panel.
- Leave the glue tab unprinted and unvarnished.

2 x 2 x 4 inReverse Tuck End dieline questions
What is the difference between reverse tuck end and straight tuck end?+
On a reverse tuck end the top closure hinges from the back panel and the bottom closure from the front, so the tucks go in opposite directions. Blanks nest better on the sheet, which usually means more cartons per sheet. A straight tuck end puts both closures on the back for a clean front face.
Which board should I use for a reverse tuck end box?+
Most retail cartons run on 16pt to 18pt SBS paperboard. Go to 24pt for heavier products or larger cartons, and E-flute when the box also has to survive shipping on its own.
Are the dimensions inside or outside?+
Inside. Enter the space your product needs. The template adds one board caliper per panel, and the spec block on the file prints the approximate outside size.
Is this dieline template really free?+
Yes. Every standard size downloads instantly with no email. The custom-size generator asks for an email before the download so our team can help if you want the box produced.
Can I use this template with another printer?+
Yes. It is a standard SVG with a legend and spec block, so any printer can read it. Board and equipment vary, so verify the dieline with whoever prints the job before production.
